Uptime Institute

Founded in 1993, the Uptime Institute is a pioneer in the development of a performance standard for data centers based on their availability and redundancy. His classification of data centers tiers (or levels) provides designers and operators of data centers to identify a goal for the performance of topology design of electrical distribution infrastructure and data center cooling. The standardization of the Uptime Institute Tiers is a standardized methodology used to determine the availability of an installation. The patterns are composed of a four-level scale, with Tier 4 being the highest and robust. The Uptime Institute through its program ATD (Acredited Tier Design) has accredited professionals worldwide as being able to design facilities that meet the Data Center requests for classification of availability and reliability dictated by their tiers.
